Who we are

HeyUrdu is made by Sumdora. If you have a question about your privacy, email us at support@heyurdu.com.

What stays on your phone

Your progress, streak, settings, saved phrases, your family’s words and any problems you report are kept on your phone. We don’t see them.

HeyUrdu uses your activity in the app (when you practise, how lessons go) on your phone to time reminders and decide when to show an ad. This never leaves your phone.

Your microphone and your voice

HeyUrdu listens only when you tap the microphone. Your phone’s own speech recognition (from Apple or Google) turns what you say into text so HeyUrdu can check it. Depending on your phone, Apple or Google may do this on their servers; their privacy policies apply. HeyUrdu doesn’t keep recordings after checking them.

Your age

We ask for an age group, never a birthday. Learners under 13 never see ads from other companies, and nothing is tracked for advertising for anyone under 18.

Ads (free plan)

On the free plan, HeyUrdu shows ads after some lessons. Ads from other companies come from Google AdMob. Where the law requires it (the UK and EU), we ask your consent first, and on iPhone we ask before any tracking. If you say no, you still see ads, just not personalised ones. Pro has no ads.

Our website

On heyurdu.com we only use Google Analytics cookies if you say yes when we ask. They help us count visits and see which pages help people. If you say no, nothing is stored.

Reminders

Daily reminders are set up on your phone. You can turn them off in Settings or in your phone’s settings at any time.

Purchases

Subscriptions are handled by Apple or Google. We never see your card details.

Accounts

If you create an account, we keep your name, email and progress so you can use HeyUrdu on another phone. You can delete your account and its data in the app at any time.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk) in the UK. Email support@heyurdu.com.
